Bourne & Hollingsworth Wedding Photographer | London Wedding | Mia & Michael

There’s something different about London weddings, or city weddings in general. A different vibe, buzz, atmosphere, call it whatever you will. Mia and Michaels big day at the Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell, was no exception.

Both Mia and Michael have mixed ancestry and have lived, or at least have friends, from all over the world so the amount of accents and languages that could be heard was mind blowing. Think South America, North America, the Middle East, Italy, France, the list goes on.

After a smooth train and tube journey from home, followed by a short walk from Farringdon Station, I arrived ready for the day to begin. Just across the park, on the corner of Rosoman Street and Exmouth Market, sits Coin Laundry, a charming corner pub. This welcoming spot served as the meeting point for pre-event drinks, where Michael and Mia greeted guests as they arrived.

When ready, we all wondered back through Spa Fields park and to the B&H Buildings for the ceremony. Mia & Michael chose to walk down the aisle together, which is something I love, and had their ceremony conducted by a family member, making it all the more personal to them both.

Once finished, it was outside for Prosecco and canapés as the guests mingled in the sunshine on the Northampton Road.

The wedding breakfast was served as we headed into late afternoon and as the spring sun finally started to set, the speeches and toasts started. Tears and laughter throughout!!

All that was left was for the first dance and both Mia & Michael were the picture of happiness as they swayed in time with once another before being joined on the dance floor by their guests.

Discover the History and Charm of Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell

Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, located in Clerkenwell near Exmouth Market, is a unique and stylish venue that blends history and modern cool. The name “Bourne & Hollingsworth” pays homage to the original Bourne & Hollingsworth department store, once a beloved retail destination on Oxford Street at the corner of Berners Street in central London.

Founded in 1894 by Walter William Bourne and his brother-in-law Howard E. Hollingsworth, the original Bourne & Hollingsworth began as a drapery store in Westbourne Grove. It evolved into a well-known department store famous for premium-quality goods and its commitment to staff welfare. The store operated successfully for nearly a century before closing in 1983.

In 2014, the Bourne & Hollingsworth name was revived by the Bourne & Hollingsworth Group. Then followed the launch of Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell. This flagship venue has become one of London’s most popular destinations for dining, drinking, and events. It features a beautifully restaurant, a lush greenhouse-style dining area, cocktail bar and an underground late-night bar and dance space.

In 2015, the venue expanded further with the opening of Below & Hidden, an intimate basement bar known for its hidden entrance, creative cocktails, and lively atmosphere.
